Every wonderful short story contains thought-provoking wisdom of life. Aesop was born in the Samos island of the ancient Greek in the 6th century BC, who was a slave of Jadmon’s family and was resold for many times. During the period as a slave, Aesop often made up fables to entertain his master. Because he was clever and intelligent, later he was honored to be a free man by his master. After being freed, Aesop began to travel around the world, telling his fables to people, which were loved by the ancient Greek people. Aesop was praised as “The Father of Greek Fables”, “The Founder of Western Fables”, and was jointly called the four fabulists in the world with Krylov, La Fontaine and Lessing. Aesop’s Fables is an important part of ancient Greek literature. The characters in the book are mostly anthropomorphic animals, ordinary people and gods. The author uses picturesque stories to talk about some thoughts, moral consciousness or life experience. These stories are short but profound, and some teach people to be honest and diligent; some persuade people not to be proud and tell lies; and some state that handing affairs should accord with the law and the abilities; and some reflect various profound life principles such as the strong, though fierce, are often defeated by the weak.)
