Siblings Polly and Sam embark on three mythologically inspired adventures. In [cf2]Earth[cf1], they find a mysterious note instructing them to care for the Earth Child--a difficult task. In [cf2]Fire[cf1], Polly and Sam and their older brother free Prometheus. In [cf2]Wind[cf1], the three encounter the goddess Athena. The fantasy elements aren't always clear, and the stories' internal logic is shaky.

In the fourth and final book in the series, Polly, Joe, and Sam follow the directions on a mysterious scroll and embark upon another mythological adventure. With the help of a Cyclops, an irritable robot, and the goddess of Dawn, the three children free Prometheus. Although the ending is interesting, the bumbling children never have a clear idea of their goals and accomplish their tasks almost by accident.
