Concluding his adventures in this sequel to THE BOOK OF DEAD DAYS, the servant known only as Boy is abruptly liberated when master Valerian dies. Boy's questions about his father's identity (could it be Valerian?) and his friend Willow's whereabouts are elegantly framed by Graeme Malcolm's polished narration. From the keening wail of the emperor to Kepler the scientist's harsh bark, Malcolm transports listeners to the scene. His confident delivery propels us forward through tunnels and dungeons to the imperial palace, where Boy confronts his most sinister fears.
